St. James is blessed to host The Anglican Singers, an independently organized choir-in-residence which is dedicated to the English choral tradition. The Anglican Singers have been artists-in-residence since 1997 and sing the majority of Evensong services each year at St. James Church, as well as the annual Service of Lessons and Carols for Advent. In the summer of 2023 the choral group was the choir in residence for a week in England at Lichfield Cathedral and also sang Evensong at Worcester Cathedral and visited Coventry Cathedral.
The Music Director of the Anglican Singers is Simon Holt, a graduate of The Royal College of Music in London. Currently Simon is Artistic Director and General Manager of Salt Marsh Opera, Director of Music at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme and Music Director of Cappella Cantorum.
